These were the rules for the 2005 Movie Challenge. For the next event they'll probably remain the same unless we can think of something cruel to implement: 1. All entrants must be over the age of 15. This does not mean that your crew and actors have to be over-15 - they can be of any age. The over-15 rule applies to those registering and to those who will be attending the screenings of the films after the event. 2. We must have at least one method of contact for your team (ideally both a telephone number and email address). 3. The entry fee of £20 per team must be paid on the day of registration (CASH only please). Remember all profits are going to charity. If you wish to donate more, just let the staff member at the cinema know. 4. You will be issued with a film title, film genre and a line of dialogue which MUST be used for/in your film. 5. Your movie has to be returned no later than 48-hours after registering and be in one of the accepted formats (miniDV, DVD, Hi-8, Sony HDV 1080i). It must be delivered in person back to the cinema in the envelope provided and clearly labeled. 6. Your movie must last for 5-minutes including any credits you may add. We will allow the running time to be up to a maximum of 5-seconds out either way. 7. If we feel you have cheated by "padding" your film with extended credits, we will disqualify you. 8. We want you to have as much creative freedom as possible with your film. However, due to licensing restrictions, if you wish to make a more "mature" film then the maximum strength it can be is one for an audience of "15" or above. Please read the BBFC guidelines for further information. If we feel the material you have shot is inappropriate, we may impose edits or cuts. If this then impacts the running time you will be disqualified. Obviously if you want to film something suitable for kiddies, that's cool. Just don't make it a gore, drugs or sex-fest that would normally get an 18! 9. Your film must have a least one talking character. This does not necessarily mean you need actors. You can use voice-overs, puppets, talking pets etc. Whatever or whoever you choose must have something to say during your film. We don't want 5-minute films of some trees and meadows blowing in the wind! 10. You must sign a release form on return of your film acknowledging that you hold all licensing and copyright permission for the material used in your film. Failure to sign this form will mean we cannot screen your film. |
